31 Jan: Ray Acheson at SFU Harbour Centre, Vancouver

SFU’s School for International Studies and the Canadian Pugwash Group invite you to a free public lecture:

“Civil Society versus the Bomb: Reaching Critical Will and the Struggle for the Ban Treaty”

Ms. Ray Acheson
Director, Reaching Critical Will

Wednesday, January 31, 2018
5:00-6:30pm, SFU Harbour Centre, Room HC7000 (7th floor)

Listen to a young, dynamic Canadian who heads “Reaching Critical Will” a New York-based disarmament project of the Women’s League for Peace and Freedom. Ray will elucidate how civil society has been able to act as a catalyst for the diplomatic effort to negotiate a Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, which was adopted by 122 states last July. Ray is also a steering group member of the global NGO coalition ICAN (International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons) which received the Nobel Peace Prize in December for its contribution in bringing the ban treaty into existence. Come and be enlightened. Come and be inspired.
